MINIATURE FANCY BRASS PLUMB BOB WITH BUILT IN REEL
This sale is for a unique machinist-made Miniature Plumb Bob. It is recently made and has never been used. The story of the Plumb Bob follows:
Somewhere among the green hills of Vermont, lives a little machinist who worked up this little plumb bob knowing that an enthusiastic plumb bob collector might like to add a little gem like this one to their collection. Although he is extremely shy and won’t let us tell you his name, we can say that after a long satisfying career designing, building and maintaining a workshop in an industrial hollow tree somewhere down country, he retired to our quiet neighborhood and set up his dream shop in the base of a spacious old elm tree just around the corner. We occasionally meet him while out walking and found that if we simply leave a basket containing some short pieces of 3/8” brass rod and some 10d nails outside his door, that he will joyfully make a few of the smallest and most jewel like little plumb bobs that anyone has ever seen.
And so, with extreme attention to detail, and a heaping helping of elfin magic, he made this stunning little plumb bob with a built in reel that he generally modeled after the Stanley design. This Minitature Plumb Bob weighs just a bit less than 9 grams and measures a whisker under one and a half inches from top to bottom. The little reel actually works and our elf likes to point out the “rope knurling” on both the reel and the body. He said that although it’s fully functional he suggests that it works best if there’s no wind. A tiny plumb like this is just perfect for our little elf ... and for your collection.
With the sale of this Plumb Bob, our elf may just surprise us again with another delightful Miniature plumb bob or other Miniature tool - comments/suggestions are welcome.
PLUMB BOB DETAILS:
Modeled loosly after the Stanley Design, this Plumb Bob weighs just under 9 grams and measures a bit under 1 1/2" from top to bottom. There is rope knurling on both the reel and body.
